Biography

Born and bread in the hills of North Carolina, amidst the decedents of moonshiners, holy rollers and mountain drifters, Sissy DéBut has been submersed in originality since her childhood. The picturesque Carolina backdrop of rolling hills, lush valleys, drunken people and cluttered trailer parks were the spring board for the art Sissy has strived to create.  Often referred to as a human rubix cube, Sissy has made an art form out of being artistically obscure.  A unique mix of Music, Humor, Fashion and FUN arm Sissy with something a little different, and quite possibly harmful to the world around her!

A gypsy by birth, Sissy has spent most of her life in bars, churches, beauty salons and retirement homes performing any where and EVERYWHERE she could.  Years of theater lead Sissy to make her New York City theatrical debut in the Joel Stevens’ play “Arrived Naked”, in the summer of 2005, followed by appearances in 4 other productions prior to her move to Los Angeles.  In the summer of 2008 Sissy embarked on a take over of Hollywood and is currently performing with “The Fairytales” and her band "Girl Down" as well as appearing live at “The Viper Room”, “The Stone” and “The House of Blues.”

 From colleges to festivals to theaters and bath houses, she has taken her message to the people.  Sharing the stage with artists like Emmy Lou Harris, Shelby Lynne, Roseanne Cash and Nickel Creek (just to name a few!) Sissy has proven she is a valuable commodity to have around. With a new album in the works, upcoming film appearances, a collection of stories and recent appearances on NBC, E! Entertainment and Logo, Sissy DéBut is proving her grass roots “plan of conversion” is taking effect one by one.  As Ms. DéBut proclaims “Life is a celebration of diversity and exploration, why should we be any different?”
